About the Project
As part of Habitat for Humanity Cambodia’s efforts to support the implementation of the National Housing Policy, the National Housing Forum (NHF) will be held on 27 June 2017 at the InterContinental Hotel in Phnom Penh. The event will be opened by Senior Minister Chea Sophara, Minister for Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction.
The NHF aims to bring together housing sector stakeholders to discuss, debate, and plan actions to address key issues, needs, and challenges in the housing sector. The forum will also focus on enhancing the sector's role in national development planning (NSDP) processes and preparing for sub-national administrative considerations in Provincial, District, Municipal, and Commune/Sangkats planning processes.
Objectives of the NHF include:
Adopt a broad dialogue with the participation of multi-stakeholders (governmental sector, private sector, community organizations and universities and institutions) on housing issues, challenges, solutions and innovations within the framework of the NHP and in view and in light of the SDGs.
Identify and promote scalable affordable housing solutions for Cambodia and to identify areas for collaboration and possible actions on housing and land related issues and strengthen partnerships within and across the housing sector.
Provide a neutral, objective venue and an opportunity for multi-stakeholder multi-sector engagement and build a sector wide platform for sharing on innovative housing technologies practices and financing
Showcase successful projects and approaches and provide support to motivate individuals, organizations and the private sector to improve housing conditions, so more people have a decent and affordable place to live
Discuss national housing regulations, initiatives and solutions being adopted to address the issue of un-affordable housing in urban and rural contexts, from public, private and civil society sector organizations.
